San Diego Hoops and the SFGBA came together last night and decided to pull the San Diego tournament and continue with the San Francisco tournament
After the boards from San Diego and San Francisco discussed the issue of conflicting tournaments in the two cities, San Diego Hoops has decided to cancel their event and support San Francisco’s tournament.
Many of you were confused yesterday when you opened your inbox and found that San Francisco and San Diego were both hosting gay basketball tournaments in early 2010.
Neither one of programs had the full story and were unknowingly being pitted against each other.
The two gay basketball programs’ respective boards, who have never held ill will against one another, came together late yesterday evening and this morning to discuss our conflicting tournaments, the facts, and the intention behind two gay basketball tournaments being so closely scheduled together.
The San Diego Hoops program has agreed to pull the tournament and support and attend the San Francisco tournament in February 2010. * Any tournament held in San Diego will not have the support of the San Diego Hoops program.
The SFGBA welcomes San Diego Hoops with open arms and is excited to have their brothers in the south join them for the 2010 Jasinski Golden GaYte Classic.
We apologize for this inconvenience and hope to see you in San Francisco on February 13-14, 2010.
Signed,
The Tournament Boards of San Diego Hoops and SFGBA
