Extraordinary People/Contributors/Former Board Members:
Below is a list of extraordinary people that have contributed to the SFGBA. The years in which they were enshrined is in parenthesis. The inaugural 2010 class was named by Tony Jasinski, the father of San Francisco gay basketball.
- Eric Broadhurst (2010): Eric ran multiple seasons of the local league, the coordinator for the 2010 tournament (and did most of the tournament planning, coordination, team setups, communications, etc…etc…), board chairman for 2009, continued board participation, played in Boston tournament.
- Francis Broome (2010): Founding board member, regular volunteer (always there!), leader and active member of the Rockdogs over their entire existence, continued board support, expecially related to sponsorships and fundraisers.
- Frank Castaldini (2010): Major financial contributor to the organization, always willing to lend a hand, more recent league player and captain, big booster of gay-supportive basketball.
- Roland de Beque (2010): Roland has been playing basketball in the Castro since 1990. He created the program for the 2010 Jasinski Classic and ran the beer booth for SF Pride Sunday in 2010. He has been a captain in the Castro League and has served as league commissioner, as well. He is a long-term SFGBA board member. Prior to moving to San Francisco, Roland co-founded the first gay basketball program in San Diego in 1985.
- Don Franklin (2010): Castro gym director, supporter and contributor. Without Don’s support year after year, the SFGBA and Castro League would not be where it is today. Don has always done his best to assist the Castro league and open gyms. We’ll miss you when you leave, Don!
- Tony Jasinski (2010): ‘Nuff said. Click here for more about Tony’s invaluable contributions throughout the last several decades.
- Stuart Leung (2010): Multi-year player on both the Fusion and the Rockdogs teams, long-term and founding board member, recent leader of the Rockdogs, ran 2010 springtime league, represents SF at many tournaments and in national organizational efforts, coordinated Sunday leaders, current (2010) board chairman.
- Pete Myers (2010): First board chairman and founder of the SFGBA, ran multiple seasons of local league, participated in many tournaments, laid the groundwork for the SFGBA.
- Tom Tantillo (2010): Ran first beer booth at SF Pride Sunday, accomplished getting nonprofit status from the IRS for the organization, long-time player in the league and in tournaments, major board member & participant & volunteer.
