Gaymen, Rambros are League Champions of CBL26

Rambros capture ‘B’ Title over Fighting Unicorns 30-20 in defensive struggle: The Rambros won an ugly game in which the Unicorns scored a season low 20 points. It wasn’t a beautiful game for the ‘Bros either, they scored just 30 points, their second lowest total of the season. The Rambros took advantage of the a Christophe-less Unicorn team. In a game without much offense, Mark Martin discovered his shot, hitting better than 50% for the first time this season, leading the ‘Bros with 18 points.  The Unicorns were led by Nick Daniels’ 13 points and 9 rebounds.

Just a reminder that there is NO OPEN GYM TODAY (Sunday, May 29, 2011) in honor of our LGBT service men and women, past and present. Hope the Bay has great weather for you to enjoy.

There will be no open gym on the following Sundays for 2011:

  • May: Memorial Day Sunday
  • June: Gay Pride Sunday
  • July: July 4th Sunday
  • Oct: Halloween Sunday
  • Nov: Thanksgiving Sunday
  • Dec: Christmas Sunday

Don’t forget to give the SFGBA an assist during Gay Pride, sign up to help us out at our booth!

Sign up to help SFGBA during Gay Pride

Have you ever wondered how you can give back to the SFGBA? Well, stop wondering and get doing. For the fourth consecutive year, the SFGBA has been awarded a booth to sell beer and water at the San Francisco Gay Pride on Sunday, June 26.

We are looking for 36 volunteers to work in the booth for a minimum of a 4-hour shift. Not only is this our biggest fundraiser of the year (which keeps our Sunday Open Gyms open and subsidizes the Castro League), it really is a LOT OF FUN and a great way to hang out with your basketball peers as well as meet Pride attendees!

If interested, please register below:

Roland will also make a special appearance at tonight’s games to shame you into signing up. Please take a little time this year to help us out. It’s fun and a great way to support gay basketball in SF. Husbands/wives/partners/lovers are welcome to volunteer, too.

If you have any other questions, please reach out to Roland, Stuart, or Brian Pearlman.
